The MaxSignal
® Domoic Acid (ASP) ELISA Kit is a competitive ELISA for the quantitative analysis of Domoic Acid (ASP). Domoic acid and its isomers are water-soluble neurotoxins produced by a number of marine algae, in particular by the microalgae of the genus Pseudo-nitzschia. Blooms of Pseudo-nitzschia spp. may lead to the accumulation of domoic acid in shellfish filter feeders and other marine species. Ingestion of domoic acid contaminated shellfish may cause human illness called amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP) by affecting the central nervous system. ASP has caused the death of both animal and human consumers in severe cases. The European Commission Directive 2002/226/EC implemented a domoic acid maximum permitted level (MPL) of 20 ppm (mg/kg) in shellfish intended for human consumption. This MPL is adopted by the regulatory authorities in most other countries. The MaxSignal
® Domoic Acid (ASP) ELISA Kit enables international and government regulatory agencies, food manufacturers and processors, as well as quality assurance organizations, to detect domoic acid in shellfish matrices and to satisfy customer concerns about food safety.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001.
