Cyanoacrylate adhesives also known as ‘superglues’ are single-component reactive adhesives. They cure with the small amount of moisture on the surface of the components and very quickly bond on a variety of substances. FTIR spectroscopy is used extensively within the adhesives industry for research, identification and troubleshooting.
This application note describes experiments performed on pressure sensitive, cyanoacrylates, and water-based adhesives using PerkinElmer Spectrum Two FTIR spectrometer.
